I’m baaaaack . . .

Yes, it has been a while, so funny how one life incident can derail your life, hobbies, motivation, and overall well being.

Back in July of 2015 my dad fell and broke his hip while mowing the lawn, he laid there for a half hour, until a neighbor stopped to give him aid. He did well with the surgery but afterwards, started to have multiple issues requiring him to go back to the hospital a number of times. As with many older people (pop was 83), an injury like a hip, can manifest itself and uncover other problems. As it was, on one of his trips back to the hospital, they found a bleeding ulcer, and ultimately and aggressive stomach cancer. He was told that treatment would probably kill him, so he elected to go home and enter hospice.

Dad put up a great battle, and settled all his needs, and passed away after spending his last Thanksgiving and Christmas with us on December 31, 2015. As I write this I still have him deeply planted in my heart, his body is gone, but his words, actions, smile, and all the great things about him live inside me. To quote my own song called “Dad” he is “alive inside us” here’s a video of the song Dad by Jay Regan

Anyway, taking care of my dad, with my sisters and extended family, really upset my work as a musician. During that time I was in the middle of performing, recording my new CD, which turned out to be “Wash Me”, released 4/7/2017 (my dad’s birthday), and writing Philly AIMS, and other things to promote.  For most of 2016 I was in a fog, exhausted from dealing with my father and taking care of my mom, that I dropped a lot of things I like.

So it took to the end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017 to finish recording Wash Me, this time around I did all the tracks, (except horns), mixed and mastered. In 2017 after the release I made a number of videos, you can see some here: Jay’s Wash Me videos and now I have begun playing live to promote the CD.

The next phase of getting my self “on track” is to start blogging about the awesome Philly Area Independent Music Scene, I’ve already been to one show Ego Alien at Tusk on May  27, 2017 and hope to make it out to others soon!

Please contact me for album or EP reviews, live show reviews, or any ideas for posts and if you are an artist/band “Keep Making Music” and a follower or fan “Share your favorite Philly artist/band and come put to show (please).

Great to be back and until next time,

Love and Peace,

Jay
